About PACS Linux

This SIG focuses on the Gnu/Linux Operating System. Most members use the Ubuntu distribution, but we are distro agnostic. Curious, beginner, and professional, all are encouraged to attend.

For the 2011-2012 Season we will be doing Beginner Desktop Linux with Ubuntu from 1:15 to 1:55pm.

Advanced Topics (still applicable for beginners) using Arch Linux from 2:00 to 2:50pm.

We maintain a mailing list, please join to stay informed.

We have an IRC chat every Monday night starting at 8:00 pm.

We meet from September to June, every 3rd Saturday at The Giant Foodstore in Willow Grove, PA.

Check out what we are doing at our POSTS page.

More info can be found at www.pacsnet.org.

February 2012 Beginner Meeting Recap

Attracting Newbies. I think not pushing too hard, and just using your own
Linux OS will encourage new people to try. Live usb stick or cd (explaining it will run faster on hard drive) is a good way for them to try on their own hardware.

Also local installfests.
